By using Unsent Text Messages (unsentmessages.org) you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

About the content

Messages on this site are written by anonymous members of the public. Some were originally shared publicly online, including in the r/UnsentTexts community on Reddit. We don't verify any message, and nothing here should be taken as fact, or as a statement about any real person.

Names shown on messages are first names only, and many have been changed or assigned at random. Any resemblance to a real person, living or dead, is coincidental. Dates reflect when a message was written or originally posted.

Messages reflect the views of the people who wrote them, not ours. We review submissions before publishing, but we can't guarantee that every message is accurate, appropriate or free of errors.

Content warning

Many messages deal with heartbreak, grief, loss, family conflict, mental health and other difficult subjects, and some contain strong language (which we partially mask). The site is intended for adults and readers 13 and older. Please read at your own discretion.

Nothing on this site is professional, medical, legal or mental health advice. If you're struggling or in crisis in the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time. Outside the US, contact your local emergency services.

Submitting a message

When you submit a message, you confirm that you wrote it and give us permission to publish, display, edit, shorten or remove it, on this site and in related promotion, without payment or credit. Submissions are anonymous and can't be traced back to you on the site.

Please don't submit:

• last names, phone numbers, addresses, usernames or anything else that identifies a real person
• threats, harassment, hate speech or content that encourages harm
• sexually explicit content, or any content involving minors in a sexual way
• content you don't have the right to share, spam or advertising

We may reject, edit or remove any message at any time, for any reason.

Removal requests

If you believe a message identifies you or someone you know, or infringes your rights, email hello@unsentmessages.org with the link to the message and we'll review it promptly.

Unsent Text Messages is an independent site. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple Inc. or Reddit, Inc. iMessage and iPhone are trademarks of Apple Inc. Messages are styled to look like text messages for illustration only.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we aren't liable for any damages arising from your use of the site or its content.

Changes
