In a perfect world..
You and I would have found our way back to each other differently. We would’ve taken the time to actually become friends again, to really get to know each other for who we are now, not who we used to be. We’d have date nights at each other’s places, build our own individual lives and lifestyles, and then intentionally find ways to bring those lives together. People always say things will never be the way they used to be, and honestly, I think that could be a good thing for us. We never really had a fair shot at loving each other from a place of maturity, understanding, and choice. I mean if we chose each other now..not because of our history, familiarity, or what we once were, but because of who we are today and continued choosing each other as we grow and evolve, I think the future version of us could be something really beautiful. Maybe we were never meant to rush back into what we had. Maybe we were meant to take our time, learn each other again, and let something deeper grow naturally. A slow burn. Something intentional. Something we choose over and over until one day we realize we built the forever we never got the chance to have before.
Then again this world isn’t perfect.
