did you know that ravens sometimes bring gifts to humans they like? little things they’ve found - a bottle cap, a shiny stone, something that caught the light just right and made them think, for reasons we can only guess at, that someone else ought to have it.

i think about that sometimes. how strange it is to find something beautiful and immediately wish you could share it with someone. how the world can be full of things worth looking at, but somehow knowing someone makes you want to look a little closer too.

did you know that cuttlefish can change their colors in an instant, displaying entirely different patterns on either side of their bodies? they can even use one side to court a potential mate while using the other to warn away a rival.

did you know that termites build mounds with intricate systems that regulate temperature and circulate air? from the outside, it looks like a single structure. but inside, everything is responding to everything else. a thousand tiny adjustments making a place where life can continue.

i think about the things we build with people. how a home can be made from little things that would mean almost nothing to anyone else. the familiar sound of a voice, the way someone takes their coffee, the quiet knowledge of when to reach for a hand.

i think the natural world is full of strange little reminders that life has always been finding ways to reach beyond itself. ravens carrying their treasures, spiders trusting the wind, tiny creatures building places that can breathe. and somewhere in the middle of all that wonder, there is you.

there’s two little people who found each other in a world so enormous that it still feels a little impossible some days. two entirely separate lives, each with its own history, its own little universe of things that cannot always be explained. yet learning how to make room.
