I hope you are doing good.
I'm sorry for reaching out this way, out of the blue. I came across the reservation card from our date, I had written the name of the musician on it after I looked them up. I meant to tell you about it, I meant to thank you for many things, but in my haste to end things in a clean way, I muddled my sentences and ended things coldly and abruptly.
I guess I blindsided you. At the time I didn't realise it, because we never had that second conversation about where we stood. I send this selfishly, I realise, as a feeble attempt at absolving my own guilt. I'm sorry for how I ended things, you didn't deserve it.
For the record, I didn't find you cold. But our connection was empty. You felt empty. And that turned me cold, I realise. Looking back, I can see I was on your mind, that you liked me. I can see you might have been tired, and burnt out. I'm not sure any of that would have changed how I was left feeling.
I meant it when I said I was grateful to have met you, I just never expressed just how grateful I was. You opened my eyes to what is possible, and it was great. You were great, we just weren't meant to be.
