I haven't stopped loving you. I have just reached a point where I can't keep doing this anymore.
You hurt me so many times; you've behaved so badly. And your friends have too. And what hurts most is that you never really acknowledged it or tried to repair the damage.
I spent so long trying to understand you. Your fears, your shame, why you withdraw, why you struggle to face difficult conversations. I had so much compassion for you that I think I forgot to have some for myself.
And then you came towards me again at the wedding and said things that gave me hope. You told me you were still in love with me and thought you'd want to reconnect.
And then you withdrew all over again. And denied you'd said these things.
I'm exhausted. And I'm angry because none of this needed to be so cruel.
I never expected perfection. I just wanted honesty, kindness, accountability, and a willingness to repair things when we hurt each other.
I still love you. But I'm beginning to realise how careless you've been with someone who loved you so deeply. Someone you claim to love deeply and profoundly.
I wanted us to grow together. I really believed we could. I know how hard this has been for you.
But I can't keep being the only one trying.
So I'm letting go. Not because I stopped loving you, but because I finally understand how much this has cost me.
Have a nice life, date lady. 🌬💜
