It was no longer any use for me to keep texting you. If you remember how I used to be, I could find any excuse or any reason to reach out. I was desperate for us to work. I wanted us to be together so badly that, even when I knew our relationship wasn’t good for either of us, I still kept trying. I kept holding on long after I should have let go. Maybe you thought I would always be that way. That I would always come back, always forgive, always find another reason to contact you. But I’m not that person anymore.
And now, with the distance and clarity I have, I understand something I didn’t want to accept before. This has never really been about your age, and it isn’t about your job, your family, or what you say you want from life. You have a good job, you say you’re family-oriented, and you say you want to be a father. Yet despite having the opportunity to build something real with someone who genuinely wanted that with you, you still chose to let it fall apart.
So perhaps the reason you are still alone at your age has nothing to do with age at all. Maybe the problem was never the circumstances, or me, or anyone else. Maybe the problem was simply YOU.
And I think the saddest part is that you had someone who loved you deeply and genuinely wanted a future with you, and you still managed to lose her.
