i wonder if you ever think about us or if it’s easier to pretend we just stopped existing.
you were there one day, and then suddenly you weren’t. no conversation, no explanation, nothing. just silence.
and honestly, i don’t even know what i expected from you anymore. maybe not an apology, maybe not some big explanation, but at least the decency of acknowledging what happened instead of disappearing and leaving everyone else to figure it out.
the weirdest part is that we were your friends. or at least i thought we were. and now i’m left wondering if any of it meant as much to you as it did to the rest of us.
i keep thinking about how things could’ve been different if you’d just talked to us instead of shutting everyone out. you didn’t have to agree with us. you didn’t even have to be ready to work things out. you just had to be honest.
but you chose silence.
and i guess that tells me something i didn’t really want to learn about you.
i’m not going to chase you. i’m not going to send a message asking if you’re okay or wondering when you’ll come back. if you wanted to talk to us, you would.
i just wish you understood that disappearing doesn’t undo what happened. it doesn’t erase the things you said or the way you left things with people who genuinely cared about you.
maybe one day you’ll miss the conversations, the stupid jokes, and having a place where people actually wanted you around.
maybe you won’t.
i just hope that if you ever think about us, you remember that nobody was asking you to be perfect. we were just asking you to treat us like friends.
and i think that’s what hurts the most.
because i would’ve rather had an uncomfortable conversation with you than this silence that makes it feel like none of it mattered.
i miss who i thought you were. i just don’t know if that person was ever really you.
